Day Three Sizzles

Day three at Wakarusa was a scorching hot one, though the heat in no way deterred the massive festival crowd from taking in as many kick ass shows as possible. ALO had been scheduled to kick things off on the main stage at high noon, but there was a little shuffling around and Vince Herman and Great American Taxi stepped into the play the slot. If you have ever had the pleasure of seeing Vince Herman and Great American Taxi play live, you know their fun, high-energy style was a great way to get things rolling on day three of the fest.

ALO picked up where Great American Taxi left off, taking the second slot on the main stage, which had previously been reserved for Tea Leaf Green. Tea Leaf moved to an afternoon performance in the Revival tent and delivered a stellar performance, with several members of Railroad Earth joining them on stage for a spell.

Next up on the Sun Down stage was Lotus, followed by the John Butler Trio. The John Butler Trio rocked the fest, with John Butler laying down some sweet, soulful work on the guitar. A commentary on the Hurricane Katrina situation, followed by the stirring and powerful, "Gov' Did Nothing", was definitely an emotional point in the show. The band closed out a rousing, "Funky Tonight".

The Yonder Mountain String Band followed JBT on the main stage.

"We didn't get to play everything we wanted to last night, so we are going to pick up right where we left off."

And with that, they were off and running. The thick crowd danced their asses off and you could tell the band was feeding on the high-spirited energy. Calling Wakarusa the official start to their summer, the Yonder Mountain String Band really put on a fabulous show.

The final act to play the main stage on Saturday was none other than Widespread Panic. Drawing what looked to be the biggest crowd of the festival yet, Widespread Panic wasted no time getting down to business, kicking off with "Ain't Life Grand". Check out the entire set list and a couple of photos from the Panic throwdown in our "Panic in Pictures" Wakarusa Boogie Blog posting.

We will also be posting a few other treats in our Wakarusa Boogie Blog. Enjoy!

More coming your way soon!

Peace,
Cyndi
